Your baby is getting bigger with each passing week. At this stage, he or she has undergone enough development to resemble an infant. Your baby still has to grow and he or she will continue to put on more weight.

  • Now, your baby is about the size of a papaya.
  • He or she is about 11 inches long from crown to heel and weighs about 430 grams.
  • Your baby is getting heavier every day but his or her skin still appears wrinkled. He or she needs to gain more weight.
  • At this week, your baby’s lips are distinct.
  • His or her eyes are formed, but colored part of the eye, known as iris, still lacks pigment. All other visual parts including eyelids and eyebrows are present now.
  • The pancreas, which plays an important role in production of hormones, is developing steadily at this week.
  • At this week, second signs of your baby’s teeth appear in the form of tooth buds beneath gum line. Soon after baby’s birth, his or her second teeth will come through.

Your uterus continues to grow and stretch this week to fit your growing baby. At this stage, you may crave certain foods and you may notice an increased vaginal discharge. These pregnancy symptoms are normal. So, do not worry.On reaching middle of the second trimester, many women feel good enough. But some things still can appear to make you frustrate. During this week of your pregnancy, you may experience following symptoms-

  • Hemorrhoids
  • Varicose veins
  • Abdominal pain
  • Backaches
  • Pelvic pressure

Extra care is required during pregnancy. So, take care of yourself. It is best to see your doctor if you experience the following signs-

  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Fluid leakage
  • Fever
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Headache
  • Blurred vision
  • Labor pain
