Your baby is now very low down in your tummy with his or her head engaged. Your baby is actually waiting for the release of hormones which will get the contractions started to push him or her out.

  • At this week, your baby is over 19 inches long and weighs around 6 pounds.
  • Now, he or she is completely ready to be born.
  • Your baby’s organs are now fully formed and he or she is ready for life outside your womb.
  • Your baby is producing surfactant, which will help him take those first breaths.

At this week, you may experience an increased vaginal discharge. You may notice tinged pink or brown colored discharge as the blood vessels in the cervix rupture during dilation and effacement. Once you notice this hint, it could mean your baby will soon be in your hand.

  • Pack your hospital bag. Very soon, you will meet your baby face to face.
  • Do not wait to call your doctor, if you think, you may be experiencing contractions or any other signs of labor.
  • Remember, losing your mucus plug is one of the signs of labor starting. So be careful and call your doctor immediately if you notice this sign.

Difference between Braxton Hicks contractions and True contractions-
If the contractions are irregular and stop when you move around or change positions, then these are Braxton Hicks contractions.

If contractions last more than 30 seconds, coming around every 5 minutes, and do not stop, then it is time to call your doctor.
